One Birdcage Walk (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) continues to show its versatility following the hosting of a prestigious event at the start of March, when it was able to gain Royal approval due to a very special visitor.
The venue proved to be the venue of choice for Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, who as President of the National Equine Forum (NEF), hosted the 20th NEF on Thursday 8 March. The NEF is a unique, annual event bringing all sectors of the UK's equestrian industry together for a day of lectures, discussions and networking, led by some of the country's most knowledgeable and influential vets, politicians, riders, teachers and business leaders.
The Institution's Chief Executive, Stephen Tetlow, welcomed Princess Anne to One Birdcage Walk upon her arrival, prior to escorting her to enjoy a special luncheon of the finest British cuisine exclusively designed by the venue's Head Chef. Following this, HRH The Princess Royal welcomed her guests in the stunning Venetian palazzo styled Marble Hall & Gallery, which is ideal for large networking luncheons and receptions, before hosting the forum itself in the grand, fully modernised Lecture Theatre. Here Princess Anne was able to take advantage of the specialist audio visual technology, where along with her guests, they debated the latest equestrian news, views and research from 'Protection of Native Breeds against Overbreeding' to 'Equine Obesity: Helping Horse Owners to Help Themselves'.
Following the event, One Birdcage Walk received the great news that without hesitation, the organisers have booked the venue for next year's forum, after being highly impressed with how they had been looked after during the day.
